Ipswich Hospital is set in Suffolk and covers an area of over 45 acres with around 8000 people on site every day. Our team were delighted to be involved in the refurbishment of Brantham Ward, assisting in the development of a highly clinical ward area which would provide premium care facilities for dementia patients.
Being part of the NHS, there were strict health and safety policies on site, and full compliance with HTM standards which had to be met. To minimise patient inconvenience, the work also had to be completed within a short timescale with no disruption to the everyday running of the hospital. The Trovex team worked closely with KLH Architects and Turners Construction as well as other suppliers on site to ensure a cohesive and smooth running project delivery was carried out, whilst resulting in a finish that would delight our client. The Trovex team provided advice on design and layout, as well as colour schemes designed to enhance both the temperament of the ward and in particular the experience dementia patients have whilst being treated.
Trovex products installed included the Hygipod – a natural choice due to its premium clinical PVC finish and its ease of installation. In WC areas, flush Hygipod detail was used to create a seamless PVC finish around the entire room in these areas. This ensured premium hygiene and ongoing ease of maintenance to be achieved. The robust Trovex Hygidoor was also used due to its superior hygiene properties and longevity; the modularity of this system also minimised on-site fabrication which streamlined the installation process. Finally, Trovex Hygienic Wall Cladding was selected to integrate seamlessly with Hygipod and Hygidoor, and provide a consistent PVC finish for doors, IPS and clad areas.
The project faced budgetary challenges due to client circumstances which were beyond our control. Trovex had to adapt to a budget cut mid-project and strive to ensure there was no impact on the end result. The project outcome has meant Brantham Ward provides another safe and hygienic area for patients to receive care at Ipswich Hospital; the project was a pleasing success being completed successfully on time and to a high specification.
